Do you share food?

This is an activity to learn food vocabulary and expressions. Careful! It is designed for higher levels (from 6th of Primary). Firstly, show this funny video of the tv serial Friends, where Joey explains that he doesn't share food! 
You can do an oral activity about it. What happened? What was Joey talking about? Are you like him? What is your favourite meal? What do you love? What do you hate? 

It's time to learn more vocabulary! 
Here you've got one pdf with lots of food to work on. Show it to your students, teach the new vocabulary and ask the three questions to them. The third question could be done as a role-play, where a student is the waiter/waitress and another student is the one who orders. Role-plays always work :)

If you want to go further, you can create a "restaurant" in your class. You could divide the class and have:

-Waiters
-Chefs
-Cooks
-Guests....

Organise spaces and basically create a restaurant atmosphere! Students could have done menus and decorated the class.

It is also useful to learn some expressions related to food. Here you have a matching activity to work on that:

Listen to this song and play it with your students! It's extremely useful and you can revise colours too.



After listening to the song, you can do an oral activity related to clothes. First of all, you can give this wardrobe to each student and tell them to draw the clothes they want! Then, they will present their wardrobe to all the class:

This activity is based on actions (skate, ski, dance, run and jump) and Present Continuous.

You can pre-teach the vocabulary and show them this chart to check understanding (they will need it for the following activity):

The second one is a writing activity, where they have to write the correct action (ski, jump...) and the correct sentence (the boy is skiing, the kangaroo is jumping...) next to the correct the picture. For example:

Flying to the shops

I've done this poem to practise the shops in our town! Students can learn it and do an amazing poster with all the shops in their town. Hope you like it!

FLYING TO THE SHOPS

The toy shop has got

Lots of toys, toys, toys!

For girls and boys!

There’s a car, a plane, 

a doll, there’s a train!

I just need to go to the sweetshop

When I want a lollipop.

Where can I find a little dog?

The Gruffalo story is in the bookshop,

This song and this video are really useful when you want to do a different lesson using Reading, Listening and Speaking skills! (It's done for 6th of Primary students)



Step 1: Show the video to them; ask them about it: Do they know this song? What's happening in this video?

Step 2: Try to guess what the icons mean. This can be done as an oral activity, competition in groups... it's definitely going to be challenging and fun for them!

Step 3: Students have a look at the words that appear in the song (activity 1)

Step 4: Students fill in the gaps while they listen to the song (activity 2)

Step 5: Students find 10 verbs in the song and write them down in the correct column (activity 3). They complete the chart; for example, if they find a verb in the Present Simple, they need to write it in the Past Simple. 

Step 6: Why not singing and dancing the song? This can be done as a competition or just for fun! It's a nice way to finish the class :)
